About Stephen and the Practice

I came to homeopathy in 1987 as a patient and was immediately hooked. It was amazing what positive changes could come from a few little white pills. Back then, I had to drive to Massachusetts to see a professional homeopathic practitioner. It was a long drive and made for a long day, but proved to be worth it for my health and wellness. I bought books and started to attend seminars, learning more and more about a subject that just fascinated me. Then I bought a home remedy kit and began to treat family members and myself for minor illnesses and injuries. After a while, friends asked for help. My knowledge of homeopathy and how it worked kept growing, along with my interest and amazement at the apparent miracles it could cause.

I resolved to bring back homeopathic medicine to Lewiston and Auburn after decades without a practitioner in the community. Eventually, I left my career practicing law and devoted myself to the formal study of homeopathy. My studies took me to the Teleosis School of Homeopathy in Cambridge, Massachusetts as well as to study with world-renowned homeopathic educator, writer and practitioner Louis Klein. Completing Klein's Homeopathic Master Clinician Course given by Luminos School of Homeopathy of Vancouver, British Columbia was an accomplishment that kept me busy through 2006.

A native of Augusta, Maine, I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and the University of Maine School of Law, and practiced law in Androscoggin County for 25 years. I served on the Board of Trustees of the Lewiston Public Library and the Program Committee of the Great Falls Forum. In recent years I have regularly taught a popular “Introduction to Homeopathy” course at Lewiston Adult Education.

It is exciting and gratifying to have the opportunity to bring back to my community this unique and powerful means of helping people make themselves healthy. Practicing has been a pleasure all around, meeting and getting to know patients and choosing a homeopathic remedy to help them feel better. Some of them tell me that they haven’t felt as good in their adult lives as they have after having taken just a first remedy. While I cannot guarantee that my treatment will be helpful with everyone, I will work diligently on your behalf, soliciting your active participation and informed consent at every stage of the treatment. In return I expect you to be honest and forthcoming about any problems you have in our work together, and to take primary responsibility for your own health and for all decisions regarding your care.
